What’s in Groovy Bee® Fluoride-Free Toothpaste (Peppermint + Anise)?**

Anise oil –
A popular flavoring agent, anise oil is the oil that is extracted from the seeds of the Pimpinella anisum plant. Boasting remarkable beautifying and cleansing properties, these seeds were often chewed to support fresh breath. Anise oil can help cleanse your teeth and gums. This oil also contains important nutrients, such as iron, manganese, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, as well as antioxidants, like anethole. Thanks to its sweet odor and pleasant licorice-like taste, anise oil is often used to flavor breath fresheners.

Peppermint oil – Considered one of the most useful natural products for supporting fresh breath, peppermint essential oil is known for its distinctive cooling effect and refreshing aroma. Extracted from the fresh flowers and leaves of the Mentha piperita plant via steam distillation, peppermint oil possesses potent cleansing properties that can help keep your teeth clean and your breath fresh. As such, this highly versatile oil is often found in many natural and homemade toothpastes and mouthwash formulas.

Calcium carbonate – Calcium is an important nutrient that is necessary for your teeth and bones. A mild abrasive, calcium carbonate is a fine, white odorless powder that can effectively help polish teeth. This natural substance can be found in egg shells, as well as the eggs of clams and oysters. According to a study that was published in the International Dental Journal, calcium carbonate can help naturally cleanse your teeth.

Sodium bicarbonate – Another effective mild abrasive, sodium bicarbonate is a fine, white powder that boasts a multitude of practical household uses. Also known as baking soda, high-quality sodium bicarbonate dissolves easily and leaves no grit behind. As such, sodium bicarbonate can often be found in a variety of toothpaste formulas and other similar products.

Menthol – Known for their refreshing flavor, shar aroma and cooling sensation, menthol crystals are extracted from the leaves of the Mentha arvensis plant. As such, menthol crystals have the concentrated powers of mint – including its signature scent. A common ingredient in many toothpastes, mouthwash formulas and other similar products, menthol crystals are known to possess a natural ability to cleanse your teeth and support fresh breath. They also provide our premium toothpaste formula with a wonderfully rejuvenating aroma.

Xylitol – Often recommended by dental experts to support healthy teeth, xylitol is a low-glycemic, low-calorie sugar alcohol that can help protect your teeth instead of harming them. This benefit has been confirmed by a study that was published in the journal Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dentistry.

Stevia – A healthy alternative to sugar and artificial sweeteners, Stevia rebaudiana leaf extract can be 200 to 350x sweeter than sugar. This means we only need to include a small amount of stevia to give our premium toothpaste formula a pleasant taste. Plus, unlike other sweeteners, stevia does not form acids that corrode teeth, making it a very tooth-friendly sweetener.

Glycerin – Often used as a moisturizing agent in many toothpaste formulas, is a water-soluble syrupy liquid that can help freshen your breath. It can also help retain moisture in our premium toothpaste formula.

Hydrated silica – A common ingredient found in many toothpaste formulas and personal care products, hydrated silica is a mild abrasive that can naturally help cleanse your teeth.

Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate
 – Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate and purified water can help aid in easy rinsing and removal of food particles. We use high-quality Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate derived from fresh coconuts for our premium toothpaste formula.

Purified water – Purified water can help aid in easy rinsing and removal of food particles.

Cellulose gum – Cellulose gum can help keep the toothpaste thick and foamy and may even aid in extending the shelf life of the other ingredients.
