What is liposomal vitamin D3 and why is it so important for your overall health?**


Vitamin D (calciferol) is a unique, fat-soluble nutrient that your body needs in order to function normally. It plays a crucial role in keeping your body strong and healthy and provides numerous health benefits.

While it is considered a vitamin, vitamin D is actually a hormone. When you consume vitamin D, your liver and kidneys convert it into its active hormone form. It is also called the "sunshine vitamin" because it is naturally produced by your body when your skin is exposed to ultraviolet B (UVB) rays from the sun. UVB rays interact with the cholesterol in your skin cells to provide energy for vitamin D synthesis.

The two most common types of vitamin D are D2 (ergocalciferol) and D3 (cholecalciferol). While they are both effectively absorbed into your blood stream, vitamin D3 is generally regarded as superior to vitamin D2 because it is the form that most closely resembles the one your body produces. Vitamin D3 is also more efficiently metabolized by your liver. Studies comparing vitamins D2 and D3 show that:
